Zusman Hospice Approved as VA Care Provider

6/14/2013

Zusman Hospice, a member of Wexner Heritage Village’s extensive family of services, has partnered with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide hospice benefits to U.S. service men and women.

“We are thrilled to be able to serve this unique population and their families,” Zusman Hospice Executive Director Mariann Day said. “These dedicated men and women served our country and it is an honor for us to have the opportunity to serve them by providing the highest quality end-of-life care available.”

After a vigorous application and review process, Zusman Hospice was granted a contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that qualifies the non-profit organization to receive payment through VA insurance programs. Zusman is one of only a handful of hospice providers in central Ohio awarded this type of contract.

“We think earning this contract speaks to the exceptional quality of care we provide our clients and their families,” Day said. “It is also an acknowledgement of the work we have done to provide a uniquely peaceful, compassionate and reverent environment for our clients.”

Hospice care addresses symptom relief for patients with life-limiting illnesses who have a prognosis of six months or less to live and who have decided to cease curative treatment of their disease. In addition to providing home-based care, Zusman Hospice operates an in-patient unit on the grounds of the Wexner Heritage Village campus.

For more than a decade, Zusman Hospice has worked to enhance the quality of life, until the end of life, for our patients.  The full-time medical director and team of highly skilled healthcare professionals provide exceptional end-of-life care that nurtures the body, mind and spirit of our patients while attending to the special needs of families and caregivers.
