Zusman Hospice, a member of Wexner Heritage Village’s comprehensive senior healthcare and housing network, outperformed both state and national averages for client satisfaction in the first quarter of 2014, according to a recent report by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
The report is based on the results of surveys of the families of Zusman Hospice patients who passed away between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2014.
One hundred percent of those surveyed said the quality of care received by their loved one improved once hospice was involved and that they would “definitely recommend” Zusman Hospice to others.
In addition, 100 percent of survey respondents said the quality of care provided by Zusman Hospice was “excellent.” Statewide, only 77.4 percent of respondents rated the care provided by their hospice as excellent while nationally, that number fell to 73.5 percent.
“These statistics quantify what we have been hearing anecdotally all along,” Zusman Hospice Executive Director Mariann Day said. “We believe it is a testament to the quality of our staff and the patient-centered approach we take in everything we do.”
In addition to caring for hospice patients where they live, Zusman Hospice provides care for acute symptom management at Zusman House, a five-bed, in-patient unit on the WHV campus and for patients at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Ross Heart Hospital.
