Ground Breaks This Spring for New Memory-Support Assisted Living Residence at Wexner Heritage Village

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Families looking for support of a loved one with memory loss will soon have an assisted living option available to them on the Wexner Heritage Village campus on College Avenue.

A new 10-unit residence—The Cottage—will replace the unoccupied west wing of Wexner Heritage House and open later this summer. WHV currently provides memory care services to clients in their homes through WHV’s Home Health & Wellness division and in the long-term care community at Wexner Heritage House. The Cottage will offer a new assisted living option uniquely designed to support the independence of individuals living with dementia-related conditions while making available the extra care they need.

To make way for The Cottage, the unoccupied west wing will be demolished over the next few weeks. David Rosen, WHV President/CEO, explains: “Despite our need to demolish the west wing of Wexner Heritage House, our current number of long-term care and short-term rehab accommodations for 149 residents will remain the same.”

WHV Board Chairman Randy Arndt adds, “It will be an exciting time, as we watch what was unused and unoccupied space be transformed into a beautiful new assisted living residence that will accommodate an additional 10 residents on our campus.”

Additionally, the long-term care neighborhoods of Wexner Heritage House will undergo renovation to add modern, home-like conveniences. Plans also include a landscaped courtyard where residents and the community will be able to enjoy the outdoors and visit with family, friends, and neighbors.

These developments advance Wexner Heritage Village’s vision for the future and carry forward the organization’s 60-year tradition of enhancing the well-being of central Ohioans.

Wexner Heritage Village is a non-profit provider of health, housing, and supportive services that meet the needs of aging and disabled individuals within our community. Our eight care communities offer a host of benefits that enhance individuals’ lives, from social activities to spiritual care, 24 hours a day. For details, call 614-231-4900 or visit www.whv.org.
